Eng. Abdullah Al Fathel

Abdullah is currently head of Architecture & Security at SAMA - Banking technology department (BTD), where previously he was the IT Manager of SARIE System. Prior to that Abdullah was the Change Control leader at SARIE along with the responsibility of managing the Banks DR Project for SARIE System. Abdullah spent over a year in the U.K. working as application developer at Logica for SAMA’s SARIE System. Prior to that he was manager of the Automated Check Clearing Unit at SAMA BTD. Abdullah graduated from King Saudi University, Collage of Computer and Information Science in the year 1994. eTrustCenter - Providing a Secure Infrastructure for e-Commerce in the Financial Sectors of Saudi Arabia The purpose of this presentation is to share with the audience SAMA’s experiences with PKI in the banking industry, it will start by highlighting the previous uses of PKI infrastructure in SARIE System and current uses of PKI in SARIE and SADAD, then a focus on the needs for PKI in e-Business and SAMA’s introduction of the eTrustCenter for banks use, Then the presentation will focus on the eTrustCenter’s: Components, Functions as a CA, Member Banks as Registration Authorities (RA), PKI Hierarchy, Customer Registration Process, Certificate Chains, Certification Practice Statement (CPS) & Certificate Policy (CP), Certificate Registration Policies, Uses of eTrust Center PKI and the eTrust Center Domains. The presentation will conclude by highlighting the Future Potentials - Other possible uses of Certificates in the banking industry.
